Subject: I oppose the new policies for news media

Dear Sebastopol City Council,
I am very concerned about the new rules Mayor Zollman is requiring of the new media for contacting city government. These rules will make it extremely difficult for reporters to get timely information to local citizens. We depend on local news media like the Sebastopol Times and the Press Democrat to keep us informed and they do a great job. Your change in policy comes at a crucial time when we depend more than ever on the press to inform us about our local important stores and to defend our rights to transparency of our city government. It’s a shock to see this sort of radical shift in policy here in Sebastopol.
Please put this issue at the top of your agenda at next week’s council meeting. It needs to be addressed quickly before there is a serious lack of public trust in the new mayor and the council.
