Dear Council Members,
I am a Sebastopol resident writing to oppose the new press policy.
Residents have a need and a right to know what our city council is doing to represent our interests. Council members elected by the voters must be allowed to speak to their constituents, including the press, without asking for permission from the city manager.
At this time, when many Americans have lost faith in our democracy, we need more transparency, not less, to rebuild voters trust in our government institutions and practices.
