Dear Member of the City Council,
I am writing to express my opposition of the new policies recently put into effect regarding access to reporters and how questions posed to the city will be answered. In the current environment, I think we need to protect freedom of the press and ensure transparency of government, especially at the local level. I have enjoyed the news that I receive from Sebastopol Times and I think it would be a shame if they are not able to get candid and timely responses from the city staff due to the procedures and policies being put in place. The additional level of bureaucracy is something that I feel is unnecessary, and I hope you will reconsider these policies and aim to be fully transparent with the residents of Sebastopol.
