Council Members,
I’m writing to go on record as strongly opposed to your proposed new press policy. It’s unnecessary, overly restrictive and bureaucratic, and frankly, in the current political climate, chilling.
In the small town of Sebastopol, how would this policy—requiring a Council member to contact two staff members (the City Manager and Assistant City Manager), who will then inform all the other Council members, before that Council member can even talk to a journalist--provide citizens with better service and information from our elected City Council members? It imposes a level of control that I, as a voting and taxpaying citizen, *really* don’t want to see.
Please admit that this proposed policy is a mistake, drop it, and move on to issues that will actually serve the people of Sebastopol. You work for us, remember?
