Dear City Council Members,
Regarding the changes of who can speak to who when and what channels and rules must be followed: has there been a problem with council members confusing the public by offering their opinions? Have community members become confused and not able to discern the difference between a comment and a vote taken by the council? Has the huge mysterious whereabouts and back story of where all the money the city has lost become known through loose lips? What other local governments have adopted these procedural rules? Get a hold of yourselves, little Sebastopol City Council members. It is too much overkill to whatever concerns there are actually are and a bad message about how you view your importance. Freedom of the press is a HUGE issue right now and any measures designed to keep the community( including the press) from knowing what is going on, speaking freely, asking questions, engaging in discussion and debate with council members is exactly what all the people who are aghast about larger issues will read into this overdressed, weighty drag on our freedom.
Focus on more important matters - like how to stop spending money on consultants every time you are asked to figure something out.
Don’t waste our time, Sebastopol employees time, council members time on this ridiculous move in the wrong direction.
