Noteworthy Information:
1. The transition of the Police Chief position took place seamlessly with Chief Sean McDonagh assuming command of the police department. Retired Chief Nelson will remain as the Interim Captain during the recruitment and hiring of a replacement at the number 2 position due to the resignation of Captain Jim Hickey.
2. Backgrounds are continuing with 2 police officer candidates.
3. The permitting process with Caltrans for the Apple Blossom Parade has been initiated and is moving along. We anticipate receiving the permit in April.
4. A strongarm robbery of alcohol occurred at Community Market. The suspect, one of our local homeless people, went into the store and began walking out. As they did so, a staff member approached to detain the suspect. The suspect threatened to punch a staff member who was in fear of being struck. The action of the suspect in causing fear of bodily harm to the employee, elevated the crime to strongarm robbery status. Our officers located the suspect and arrested and booked them into county jail.
5. A domestic violence incident took place which resulted in the suspect being arrested on 3 felony counts and 2 misdemeanor counts.
