CITY OF SEBASTOPOL
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEBASTOPOL AUTHORIZING A BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR THE
PURCHASE OF A POLICE PATROL VEHICLE FROM ENDOWMENT FUNDS WHEREAS, the City of Sebastopol Police Department currently operates with an aging vehicle fleet that has accumulated significant mileage and wear due to routine patrol operations; and WHEREAS, to ensure operational readiness and minimize unanticipated expenditures, it is critical to follow a consistent vehicle replacement schedule; and
WHEREAS, in November 2022, the Sebastopol Police Department received an endowment of $423,275; and WHERE, these funds have been used to support various departmental needs, including capital improvements, ballistic helmets, ergonomic workstations, lockers, rain uniform equipment, and a new patrol vehicle; and WHEREAS, with the exception of one newly acquired patrol vehicle, the Sebastopol Police Department has not purchased a new patrol vehicle in over six years; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the current fleet is more than 10 years old, with high mileage and a history of increasingly costly mechanical issues; and
WHEREAS, ensuring that officers have dependable vehicles supports both the safety of our personnel and the community they serve; and
WHEREAS, this purchase will have no impact on the general fund, as it relies entirely on the endowment fund. The estimated cost for this purchase is approximately $90,000, which will be covered by the endowment fund; and WHEREAS, Since this purchase was not included in the current FY24-25 budget, City staff is requesting a budget amendment of $90,000 for account number 128-32-02-5100
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Sebastopol does hereby approve a budget amendment of $90,000 identified in the account listed.
The above and foregoing Resolution was duly passed, approved, and adopted at a meeting by the City Council on the 6th day of May, 2025, by the following vote:
