CITY OF SEBASTOPOL
Proclamation
Proclaiming June 2025 as Pride Month in the City of Sebastopol Whereas, the City of Sebastopol is proud to stand in support of the LGBTQ+ community and recognizes the vital contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other identities to the cultural, civic, and economic fabric of our community; and
Whereas, Pride Month is celebrated each June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a turning point in the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement, and to acknowledge the ongoing struggle for justice and equal rights; and
Whereas, Sebastopol is committed to being a welcoming, inclusive, and affirming city where all people—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression— are safe, seen, and supported; and
Whereas, the City of Sebastopol recognizes that celebrating Pride is not only an expression of joy and visibility, but also an important reminder of the work that remains to eliminate prejudice, fight discrimination, and promote equity for all; and Whereas, the City acknowledges and honors the resilience, courage, and achievements of LGBTQ+ individuals and families who continue to shape the character and spirit of Sebastopol and the world.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT I, Mayor Stephen Zollman, do hereby proclaim the month of June 2025 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Sebastopol, and encourage all residents to reflect on the importance of inclusion and to participate in activities and events that celebrate our diverse and vibrant community.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and the Great Seal of the City of Sebastopol this 3rd day of June 2025.

Stephen Zollman
Mayor
