To the Mayor and City Council Members,
I support the creation of a committee to do a deeper dive into the proposal for the Sebastopol Commons.
Money is tight everywhere. Trying to fund stand-alone projects or fund-raise for improvements by individual cities is not feasible. CBO's and non-profits struggle with fundraising too. The future can only be built on collaboration with other groups, cities and the county to continue to allow forward movement and improvement in Sebastopol, the West County and, truly the whole county.
I encourage the Sebastopol City Council to continue to work toward the establishment of a multi-use civic space designed to improve not only government services but also public services such as senior, arts, education and health, and which will also promote community engagement.
With a new library building as a solid tenant and important public resource, and with the commitment of the providers of other vital services, community-based organizations, county government, non-profits and local business, funding such a project will succeed.
