Dear City Council,
I am writing as a member of the immediate neighborhood where Porchfest takes place. I want to express my profound support for this community-building event which showcases the spirit and talent of the unique community of Sebastopol. What a beautiful and inspired event, borne from the enthusiasm and selflessness of long-standing members of our community. As a homeowner in the blocks where it is hosted, I can attest that it was not impactful but rather great fun, happy and a showcase of what makes this community so special. I loved to see all the folks enjoy our shady streets, local talent and then wandering downtown to support local businesses. As a mother, it was also a treat to see the kids enjoying free music in a daytime setting. The hours of it did not breach city law and I found it no less impactful than the music I can hear from Ives or Hopmonk on any given night of the week. It is part of the texture and festivity that gives this town character! I hope that the Council will support it moving forward and appreciate that this is what drives tourism, interest in living here and has economic benefit in the long term.
