Dear Mayor, Vice Mayor and City Council members,
My name is Jesse Oandasan I am speaking out as a concerned citizen of Sebastopol and friend of a tenant at Woodmark Apartments.

I am asking you to approve an Urgency Just Cause Eviction Ordinance that takes effect on the first day of tenancy for current and future tenants. Accompanied by three months of market-rate relocation assistance that doesn't require signing away of legal rights. An Urgency Ordinance is the only protection that would ensure that all the remaining families at Woodmark are covered by the 14th of December, as well as tenants in other deed-restricted housing.

Many residents at the Woodmark Apartments on Bodega Avenue were given affordable housing opportunities under the promise of long-term stability, only to now be told that their contracts are “expired” after just one year. These are families, seniors, and individuals who relied on this program as one of the few options for low-income housing in Sebastopol. The sudden expiration of these leases threatens to displace people who have built their lives here, forcing them out of their homes and community in the midst of a severe housing shortage.

This is not just a paperwork issue — it’s a matter of basic human stability and fairness.

That is why I am standing with others to ask that Sebastopol take immediate action to support an Urgency Just Cause Ordinance to cover deed-restricted housing like Woodmark .

These protections are just one step you have the power and opportunity to take to protect your constituents.

Thank you for hearing us.

Sincerely,
Jesse Oandasan
