Subject: In support of Woodmark Apartment Residents / Adopt a Just Cause Eviction Ordinance Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2025 3:04:26 PM
Attn: City Council Members and Attorney Mog,
We write in support of the residents of Woodmark Apartments — our neighbors, our coworkers, our friends, our family — are facing the very real fear of losing their homes. And not because of anything they’ve done wrong, but simply because of decisions beyond their control.
These are families who’ve been part of Sebastopol for years. Parents who drop their kids off at our local schools. People who work in our stores, care for our elders, and volunteer at community events. They’ve built their lives here — they’ve helped build this town.
And now, they’re being asked to start over. To find a new place in a market that’s nearly impossible for working families to afford. That’s not just hard — it’s heartbreaking.
That’s why we’re asking the City Council to move quickly — to adopt a Just Cause Eviction Ordinance that takes effect right away, and includes at least three months of market-rate relocation assistance, starting from day one of tenancy. Because when people are forced to move through no fault of their own, they deserve a fair chance to land on their feet.
And let’s be clear — this isn’t something that would cost the City or taxpayers.
The responsibility for relocation assistance belongs with the developer. What residents are asking for isn’t anything extra — they’re asking for fairness, for accountability, and for stability.
The families at Woodmark aren’t just tenants — they’re part of Sebastopol’s story. They’re part of what makes this community feel like home.
We’re asking you, our City Council, to act with compassion and urgency.
Please, protect these residents.
Stand up for the values that make Sebastopol such a special place — kindness, fairness, and care for one another. Everyone deserves the chance to stay rooted in the place they love. Let’s make sure that chance isn’t taken away.

With gratitude,
Ashley + Justin Reeb
