Dear Members of the Sebastopol City Council,
I’m writing on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County and as a Sonoma County resident to express my appreciation for the City of Sebastopol’s leadership in implementing its Housing Element and advancing practical, people-centered housing solutions.
I support the proposed consideration and potential adoption of AB 1033, which would allow ADUs to be sold separately as condominiums. This approach would create small-scale homeownership opportunities without rezoning or sprawl, while establishing clear, objective standards that protect homeowners, buyers, and neighborhoods.
Here at Habitat for Humanity, we see how challenging it is for families, seniors, and first-time buyers to find an affordable home to purchase. Expanding homeownership options through infill housing would help people remain in Sebastopol as they age or start families and support long-term community stability.
Thank you to the City Council and staff for bringing this item forward for discussion and consideration.
Thank you!
