Dear Mayor McLewis, council members, and city staff,
I would like to thank the city of Sebastopol for your efforts in promoting affordable housing with your vote to move forward with the adoption of AB 1033, which permits homeowners to sell their ADUs—accessory dwelling units—further diversifying the housing opportunities. As a resident born and raised in Sonoma County, I have found a home in my community, as have many, and would like to remain living and growing here. However, the need for increased housing opportunities has become tantamount in Sonoma County across all ages and stages of life. In this way, the adoption of AB 1033 gives hope to young people, such as myself, of homeownership, and in general of further options for housing. Therefore, I urge the city council to vote in the adoption of AB 1033. I will be in the room next Tuesday rooting for steps towards relief from housing instability. Thank you for your leadership.
