Subject: Grocery outlet
I am unlikely to be able to attend the Tuesday evening meeting but I wanted to express my concerns about the potential opening of a Grocery Outlet at the old Rite Aid location. There are already two grocery stores within just a few blocks of there. I’m concerned that this will be detrimental to the well being of all three stores. It could even be enough to cause closure for one or more of them. I work for Community Market. I usually work at the Santa Rosa location but do occasionally have duties at the Sebastopol store. Also, the two stores are economically connected obviously.
I think that Community Market, Whole Foods and Grocery Outlet will all do much better if the Grocery Outlet is located elsewhere. This could also have sales tax consequences for the city. Thanks for reading.
