Subject: FW:Workshop Series: Making Streets for Everyone

Hello Council Members,
In light of the Caltrans grant discussion next week, I thought some of you might be interested in the workshop below. Unfortunately it is not happening prior to the decision about the grant, but some of you may be interested as we move from planning to implementation of the plan.

Cheers,
Paul

Making Streets for Everyone: A Walkability Workshop for Elected and Government Leaders

Walkable communities are beneficial for safety, health, and the economy — but changes to streets and land use can spark debate and resistance...

Making Streets for Everyone is a new virtual workshop series designed to give elected officials and government leaders the knowledge, tools, and confidence to advance walkable, people-first communities!
Across four interactive sessions, participants will learn:
• The fundamentals of street design
• How street design impacts safety, health, and economic vitality • Policy and funding tools communities can use to implement change • How to communicate the value of walkability using real-world examples This series is designed for leaders who want to do the right thing, but may not always know the best path forward or how to build durable support. Participants will leave better prepared to advocate for policy and funding changes to build better streets for their communities.

How It Works:
• Four one-hour live sessions held every three weeks
• Pre-session readings and recorded materials provided to support deeper learning
• Led by nationally recognized experts in walkability, public health, and transportation policy
• Opportunity for discussion and Q&A
Program Details:
• Launch: March 20, 2026
