Those of us who have been here long enough know that two way streets of bygone years, when traffic was half the quantity, was unworkable. Trying to make a left turn with oncoming traffic slows both directions. Please think about that! (The Two way switch is a very expensive repeat of a previous mess. Planning commissions sometimes can have egos with agendas, no disrespect.)
Plan:
Put one, one way bike lane, 4 ft wide on Main(east) and Petaluma Hill (west). separated from car lanes by yellow flex posts.
2 one way car lanes on Main and Petaluma Hill.
Shallow speed bumps to lower speeds. Lit pedestrian crossing walkways.
We fixed this once in 1985. This worked until oversized bike lanes robbed us of a traffic lane on Petaluma Hill.
