Subject: Public Comment - Please recognize Luke Lamperti
I would like to bring to the Council’s attention a local resident, Luke Lamperti, who is bringing worldwide attention to Sebastopol through his achievements in professional cycling.
Last week, 23-year-old Luke Lamperti of Sebastopol was the winner of the first stage of professional cycling’s first multi-day road race of the season, Paris-Nice. Despite being in only his second year as a professional cyclist, Lamperti’s surprise win on the first day of the eight-day race was met with widespread acclaim. He was victorious over a field of 217 riders, wearing the coveted Yellow Jersey for two of the eight days.
The Paris-Nice race garners significant attention from cycling enthusiasts around the world, who eagerly anticipate the start of the season’s first big race. I personally watched the NBC broadcast and observed that “Luke Lamperti of Sebastopol, California”, was likely mentioned at least a dozen times each day he rode with the Yellow Jersey.” Lamperti’s success in professional cycling positions him as a rising star in the sport. I anticipate that we will witness more success from Luke Lamperti and attention to Sebastopol as he continues to excel in future races.
