I have lived at BHO for 10 years. Even without this new danger, it is not very safe on our street.
We have no sidewalk. People are on walkers. They are hard of hearing.
So now, even though there are good alternatives to bringing bikers through here, people want to do this again? I am dead set against it. Bodega ave has bike lanes. People can walk through the cemetery now from up the hill. And there are other alternatives also.
So you think kids flying down some street here, with the bus, amazon, work trucks, UPS, people on walkers, mail trucks, will be safe? Are you ready to pay when a kid gets killed or one of us gets hit and breaks a hip?
For these bike people, it is some fun idea. For us it is potentially a life threatening hazard.
Not to mention many more strangers coming through insisting on their right of way. We all know that bikers rarely obey street laws.
We will not feel safe. As it is, every day we have to deal with a blind turn on our street where you want kids to ride through. Every day coming in from town, if any of the above mentioned vehicles are parked there, and they do every day, we have to drive around risking that turn.
So see what happens if you think that bike riders having fun is more important that lives.
