Dear Council membersThank you for your forward-thinking approval of the Downtown Plan. This is a long-term strategy to guide the future of downtown. As a professional planner, I understand that the implementation of such plans happen gradually and take many years for completion.
Sebastopol has taken the first step towards a more complete, healthy and balanced downtown promoting all modes of transportation-pedestrian, bicycle/scooters and motorized cars/trucks. Two way streets are friendlier to pedestrians and bikes, will help small businesses and increase the City’s tax base. A vibrant pedestrian-oriented downtown with generous sidewalks will encourage people to linger, shop and eat, meet their neighbors encouraging community spirit.
