Subject: Music at the farmer's market
Dear City Council,
I am writing as a community member and supporter of The Sebastopol Farmers Market to express how greatly live music adds to the market experience. Sebastopol is a haven for the arts, which is what has caused my family to settle here. Taking art out of this space would be such a shame.
The music helps create a welcoming atmosphere and is a very important part of what makes the market a vibrant community space. It creates a wonderful, warm energy in the market and makes the whole thing into an experience, not just a place to shop. It is what sets the market apart from all of the others I have ever attended. All of the artists I have seen there have been extremely tasteful and interesting, keeping the volume at a very respectful level where it is easy to converse with the sellers and the other patrons. I also truly love that the city square often is occupied by people making music all week long -- I think this is a unique and excellent attribute of the town.
As the market works through its permitting process, I hope the City will support a path forward that allows live music to return as soon as possible. It is a meaningful part of the market and contributes greatly to the sense of community that so many Sebastopol residents value.
