Judging by articles from the Sebastopol Times, there has been a problem with racist behavior at Analy High School since at least 2016. The ugly racist and antisemitic graffiti and racial taunting behind Safeway, with the biggest impact felt by residents near by, should be seen as a problem for the whole community to be involved in solving.
Analy High School response did appear conspicuously absent in the report put out by the committee for the 9/1 meeting.
This has been going on for a long time—Why not have a specific committee or task force with representation from the City Council, Sebastopol police, Analy High School, possibly Safeway and, most importantly, members of the community, including those directly affected? Maybe monthly ZOOM meetings with updates of progress and ideas of what can influence the culture that the problem arises out of. Including community members would be inclusive, transparent, and utilize members of the community as a resource.
