Dear Council Members,
I am writing to urge you to keep the Sebastopol Public Library downtown. Keeping the library downtown, in a walkable location, is so important for people of all ages, as well as the vitality of downtown businesses.
Moving the library away from the city center will make it harder for kids, teens, and adults who do not drive to access the library. It also takes away the one free indoor “third place” we have downtown. From an environmental perspective, it means more vehicle miles traveled, hence more carbon emissions.
As city resident, teacher, parent, and frequent user of the Sebastopol Library, I urge you not to explore the O'Reilly building location and keep this amazing public resource in a place that is the most accessible to people of all ages and draws people downtown, where they are more likely to spend money at local businesses.
Thank you,
Sunny Galbraith
