Subject: Support Rotary Club Ives Park Proposal for Restoration and Improvements - Item 6A Meeting 13 Oct 2026
Thank you for your thorough consideration of the Rotary Club proposal for Ives Park restoration and improvements. I strongly encourage the City to approve of Rotary’s generous oƯer.

It is telling that two of the principal community organizations who bring our town together at Ives support the Rotary Club’s plan. These being the Little League and Peace Town. Please listen to them.

There is plenty to do on Calder Creek at the Eastern end of Ives, and along the Joe Rodota Trail, where existing parkland under the City’s purview has been underutilized and has become overgrown with invasive species, blanketed with trash, and become a refuge not only for down on their luck unsheltered people, but actual criminals. Remember recent incidents with the machete wielding woman, the wolverine-claw guy, the meth dude, and the fire bug. If the City has time and money (?!) to spend on creek enhancements, start along the Joe Rodota Trail and then move to the Eastern end of Ives.

Rotary has a 100 year record of success in programs supporting our community. Please approve their plan under consideration.

Thanks and best wishes,
Bill Howley
