The Welcome Home Grant allocation totals $25,000 to be used towards spay/neutering, microchipping, and vaccination of animals at the Shasta Lake Animal Shelter. The Welcome Grant allocation totals $5,000 to be used towards data collection and administrative expenses of the Shasta Lake Animal Shelter.

The funding will allow the Shasta Lake Animal Shelter to collect data on shelter operations and subsidize services required for pet adoption, reducing the financial burden on our residents looking to adopt, incentivizing adoptions and resulting in lower rates of euthanized animals.

Since the grant award was received after the FY2022-2023 Budget. Staff is requesting a supplemental appropriation to insert the Grant funds into the FY2022-2023 Budget.
