Summary:
Staff will provide a summary of new California housing legislation, prepared by the City Attorney.

There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.

Background:
At the conclusion of the 2021 Legislative Calendar, Governor Newsom signed over 30 legislative bills into law that were specific to housing and that took effect on January 1, 2022.
Analysis:
The City Attorney has prepared a summary analysis of important new housing legislation and case law (Attachment A). Staff will present highlights of the new legislation.
