CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
PROJECT: EAGLE SCOUT COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT – INSTALL BOOK
EXCHANGE BOX AND CONDUCT GENERAL MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES AT
THE SIGNAL HILL COMMUNITY GARDEN
LOCATION: 1917 E. 21ST STREET
APPLICANT: BEN KITCHENS
1. The applicant and participants in the project shall provide the Community Services Department with the following prior to commencing authorized activities:
a. Signed City of Signal Hill Volunteer Waiver & Release forms for all participants;
b. Written request to provide access to the site and to conduct work during specified date(s) and hours; and
c. Written consent from plot renter for any work to be done on individual garden plots.
2. Final book exchange box placement location and footing (if necessary) detail shall be approved by the Public Works Department and shall preserve pedestrian access in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
3. The applicant agrees to regularly inspect and maintain the book exchange box for damage or vandalism for a minimum period of one year from the date of installation.
4. The City is not obligated to stock inventory or repair or replace the book exchange box as a result of vandalism or other damage.
5. The City reserves the right to alter, relocate, permanently move, or replace the book exchange box due to capital construction, landscape redesign or other extenuating circumstances.
6. The City makes no warranty, representation or guaranty as to the content, accuracy, or legality of the donation of any book to the book exchange box and book donations do not constitute an endorsement by the City.
