SUBJECT:
AGREEMENT BETWEEN CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH AND
THE SIGNAL HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE USE OF THE FIRING RANGE Summary:
The City Council will consider authorizing the City Manager and the Police Chief to enter into an agreement with the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Police Department for the use of the City’s firing range facility.
Recommendation:
Authorize the City Manager and Police Chief to enter into a Facility Use Agreement with CSULB for the use of the Signal Hill Police Department firing range, for a three-year term, in a form approved by the City Attorney.
Fiscal Impact:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action. Offsetting reimbursement fees will be charged to CSULB to pay for the cost of personnel to monitor the use of the facility. All reimbursements charges will vary depending on use of facility and will be accounted for in Account No. 100-34-4725 - Miscellaneous Police Department Fees.

Background and Analysis:

mandated annual shooting qualifications for their police officers.
The proposed agreement will formalize the terms of use, compensation, indemnification, and insurance clauses. The agreement also requires the presence of a Signal Hill Police Department Range Master to monitor all activity. Overtime fully burden personnel costs will be reimbursed by CSULB Police Department.
