A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SIGNAL HILL, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS FROM GREENLATINOS FOR THE STREET TREE PLANTING - FEDERAL PROJECT WHEREAS, The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), through the Urban Community Forestry Program, has authorized grant funds in the amount of $1,000,000, as funded by the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act, P.L. 95-313 as amended; and WHEREAS, The Federal Assistance Listing number and name are 10.727, Inflation Reduction Act Urban & Community Forestry Program; and WHEREAS, GreenLatinos, a national pass-through partner of the USDA Forest Service, has been awarded a Cooperative Agreement (FAIN) number 24-CA-11132544-013, under which the City of Signal Hill will receive such subaward funding in the amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the Street Tree Planting – Federal Project; and WHEREAS, GreenLatinos and the City of Signal Hill will enter into a subaward agreement outlining their collaborative efforts to develop and implement an urban and community forestry project in accordance with the USDA Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Program guidelines and objectives; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SIGNAL HILL, CALIFORNIA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approve the submittal of the grant agreement for the Signal Hill’s “Street Tree Planting - Federal Project” for Community Forestry Program Funding grant.
Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes and empowers the City Manager, or designee such as the Director of Public Works to execute in the name of the City of Signal Hill all necessary documents, including but not limited to, applications, agreements, budget, and amendments necessary to administer the project.
