I am a former Board member of the San Pedro Neighborhood Council. I left the council when I moved to Simi Valley. When I lived in the harbor area, I founded the Daniels Field Neighborhood Watch Group in San Pedro and was a member of the founding class of HCOP (Harbor Citizens on Patrol) for the LAPD Harbor Division.

I found my experience as a Board member of the San Pedro Neighborhood Council very fulfilling. I met like‐minded individuals that took pride in making their community a better place to live. I hope to do the same for my community. The residents, neighbors and business owners I have met really love their community and I would like to be a productive and contributing member of the community.

9.   What do you see as your responsibilities if appointed as a Neighborhood Council Executive Board member? I hope to connect neighbors, local residents and business owners to what is happening in City Hall through the Neighborhood Council. My job is to share information with my community and also bring back what is important to them to the Council through my work on the Neighborhood Council. In addition, I am interested in public safety issues. I would like my community to take advantage of all of the services our city provides.

10.   Why do you think the Neighborhood Councils are important? Neighborhood Councils give residents and business owners on opportunity to be heard. Getting involved in local issues can be intimidating or daunting to some, so Neighborhood Council are good ways to break down barriers and give people a platform and voice to be heard.

11.   Are you willing and able to attend monthly Neighborhood Council meetings and perform other duties such as flyer distribution and volunteering at Neighborhood Council sponsored activities? (○) Yes

12.   Have you previously served as an Executive Board member? (○) No

13.   Please add any additional information you would like considered.

My wife was born and raised in Simi Valley. I have lived fulltime in Simi Valley since 2019 and a property owner since 2017.

This is a wonderful city with lots of wonderful resources and even better people.

I attended Supervisor Janice Parvin’s town hall meeting earlier this year and one of the local officials on the panel described Simi Valley as Goldilocks City. It is big enough to get resources from the State but small enough for those resources to really 34 3
benefit the community. The City of Los Angeles is so big that all the money in the world is not making a difference and other cities are too small to receive significant resources to make a difference. Simi Valley really is the best kept secret in California.

Although I have not attended a neighborhood council meeting, I read the minutes. I tried to attend a couple of meetings but they were either canceled or something came up. If I were selected, I would attend monthly meetings since my work schedule can be adjusted.

It would be an honor to serve the residents of Simi Valley.

14.   By checking the box and entering my name below, I am submitting my application to serve as a Neighborhood Council Executive Board member.

10.   Why do you think the Neighborhood Councils are important? Neighborhood councils have a long history in our country and a great purpose of promoting citizen participation in local government. I would love to be a part of this tradition and process.

I appreciate your review of my application to service on the neighborhood council 2. It is my hope that I can continue to serve members of our community and I believe the neighborhood council would be that next step.

14.   By checking the box and entering my name below, I am submitting my application to serve as a Neighborhood Council Executive Board member.
