VALLEY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND ADOPTION OF A
RESOLUTION
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
I
t is recommended that the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees adopt the attached Resolution No. 2024-25 (page 3) reappointing Trustee Judge to serve on the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees for an additional three-year term through June 30, 2027.
BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW
O
n April 9, 2012, the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees (Board) adopted Resolution PL-01, which set the initial terms of office of the Board. Each Trustee holds office for three years as provided for in Ordinance No. 1182, Section 2, and pursuant to California Education Code Section 18911. Additionally, Resolution No.
PL-02, Section 2, specifies that the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and City Council Members shall act as the Board President, President Pro Tem, and Board Members, respectively. Trustees are appointed upon completion of their three -year term or upon assuming an office vacated by a Council Member or Mayor.

rustee Judge was last appointed to the Board for the term beginning on July 1, 202 1, and ending June 30, 2024. No other Board positions expire this year.
FINDINGS AND ALTERNATIVES
A
s Trustee Judge’s term of service on the Board is due to expire on June 30, 2024 , it is recommended that the Board adopt the attached resolution reappoint ing Trustee Judge for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2027.

move to adopt Resolution No. 2024-25 reappointing Trustee Judge to serve on the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees for an additional term beginning July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027.
SUMMARY
O
n April 9, 2012, the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees adopted Resolution PL- 01, which set the initial terms of office for the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees. Each trustee shall hold office for three years. Trustee Judge was last appointed to the Board for the term beginning on July 1, 2021 , and ending June 30, 2024 . Therefore, it is recommended that the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees adopt the attached resolution reappointing Trustee Judge to serve on the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees for an additional term from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. ___

HEREAS, on March 26, 2012, the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, appointed himself and the members of the City Council as the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees; and

HEREAS, Trustee Judge was last appointed to the Board for a term that expires on June 30, 2024.

W, THEREFORE, THE SIMI VALLEY LIBRARY BOARD OF
TRUSTEES DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

ECTION 1. Trustee Judge is reappointed to the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees to a three-year term beginning on July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2027.

ECTION 2. This resolution will take effect immediately upon adoption.
S
ECTION 3 . The Board Secretary shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the Office of the Board Secretary.
