The VCAAA Advisory Council is comprised of two (2) representatives from each city within the County and serves to advise the VCAAA on matters related to persons aged 60 and older. Each city’s Council On Aging Executive Board selects its two representatives, which are then ratified by the respective City Councils and appointed to the 20 -member VCAAA Advisory Council. In compliance with the VCAAA Advisory Council Guidelines for the Election of Representatives from Councils On Aging, the COA began soliciti ng applications for the vacated seat on April 8, 2024, and closed the recruitment on May 9, 2024. During this period, three applications were received.

On May 13, 2024, the COA Executive Board voted to recommend the appointment of Susan Zirnite (Attachment A, page 3), subject to the City Council’s ratification. If ratified, this will be Susan Zirnite’s first term.
