We must have $2,000,000 secure through pledges, bequests, grants, and donations before the project can begin. We are in the silent portion of the campaign and kicking off the campaign on October 8, 2025, with a fundraising dinner. We expect to raise the funds by Spring 2025 and begin the project in Summer 2025.
Because this is a multi-phase construction project, we will expend the grant funds in our earlier expenditures to meet the deadline of June 30, 2025.

Brief Explanation of Project Status (including # served to date) The high school mentoring initiative is progressing steadily, establishing a sustainable and impactful program.Recruitment efforts have commenced at two major high schools (Simi High and Royal High).
Outreach activities held have generated awareness among students and identified potential participants who would benefit from the mentorship program. BBSVC has also successfully initiated a collaboration with Simi Valley Police Department (Chief Shorts) considering the introduction of Police Explorers as high school mentors, promoting leadership and civic responsibility within the program. The integration of the Police Department’s existing programs with the mentorship initiative serves will encourage youth engagement through trusted community figures. In doing so, the program not only reaches a diverse pool of students but also establishes a foundation for police-community relations, emphasizing positive interactions with law enforcement.
Currently, there are 3 high school mentors who have submitted full applications, with an estimated 11 additional high school mentors in discussion.
Through elementary school recruitment, there are 5 mentees/Littles who have submitted full applications, with an estimated 15 additional mentees in discussion.
Elementary youth were invited to participate in the filming of a national commercial that uplifts the goals of girls ("The Female Quotient"). Ongoing enrichment activities will begin to include pairing mentors with mentees, hosting these sessions on a Thursday schedule, and staff have begun evaluating the program’s impact on participating youth. Additionally, ongoing efforts will be made to strengthen collaborations with local stakeholders, including school administrators and community organizations, to ensure the program’s long-term success and sustainability.

In July, August and September, we reached out to some key constituents in the healthcare and Simi Valley communities to gather information to conduct a needs analysis. The information gathered will guide our implementation of cancer supportive care services. Information gathered includes: patients' needs in Simi Valley, cancer-related networking groups in existence, marketing targets and possible locations for an in- person support group. The location is critical due to confidentiality reasons and accessibility for the Simi Valley community. We have not served any participants during this time.

With these funds, we were able to take advantage of a special on the Dental Sensors. We purchased two and received an additional one for free which saved the Clinic over $6,000 and provided us with much needed sensors for taking digital x-rays. The two Dell laptops were a necessary part of the ugrade to our digital x-ray system. Every dental patient receives x-rays and we take an average of 90 x-rays per day. This new equipment will enable us to continue to serve our dental patients for the forseeable future. This project has been completed. The total for both Dell laptops was $1287 so the additional $150 we spent were covered by other means outside of the CPG funds.

The Many Mansions’ Supportive Services Program continues to empower Simi Valley residents to remain permanently housed by building skills, growing self-determination, and increasing wellness. Since July 2024, the Supportive Services Program has reached 29 households (48 individuals) at our La Rahada, Casa de Paz, and Peppertree locations.
During this grant term, staff hosted 27 life-skills workshops and community-building events. Residents enjoyed a range of trainings promoting financial stability, healthy living, wellness, and more. For example, in August, residents attended a seminar about credit-building basics and how to recognize popular scams. In addition to growing their financial knowledge, participants learned to safeguard sensitive information, helping to increase their confidence and self-sufficiency. The “Write a Blues Song” activity, was another highlighted training emphasizing healthy coping mechanisms through creative outlets. Using Blues composition techniques, attendees crafted their own songs and sang each as a group. The event culminated in a guided discussion of individual challenges and ideas to navigate them. Participants left the workshop feeling supported and uplifted.
Additionally, to celebrate the end of summer, staff held a series of well-attended community-building events (property celebrations, BBQs, ice cream socials). These activities are critical to supporting housing stability by reducing isolation and encouraging relationships with neighbors and staff.
The Program continues to make a positive impact on Simi Valley residents. We are pleased to report strong achievement towards our objectives:
100% of Supportive Services residents have remained housed. 85% demonstrated life skills growth by paying their rent on time. 88% have made progress towards wellness and self-determination by actively engaging with case management and setting personal milestones.

This reporting quarter, PathPoint's Discoveries Day Service procured several of the approved grant items, including an organizational device, program chairs, refrigerator, and freezer. Discoveries currently supports 29 individuals and is aimed at providing people served with the tools, resources, support, and self-confidence that they need to reach their personal skills, hone their interests, and increase social aptitudes. Many people served have identified organization as a personal goal that they are working towards. With more storage devices available, staff teach skills pertaining to orderliness and cleanliness, thus helping individuals to achieve this goal and allowing them to take pride in their service space. Similarly, the program chairs ensure that people with diverse mobility needs have a comfortable space to engage in activities and lessons. Finally, the freezer and refrigerator have been a huge improvement to facility's kitchen. With these new appliances, staff have conducted cooking lessons so that people served can learn skills such as food preparation, safety and cleaning, and how to execute a meal from start to finish. In the upcoming report quarter, PathPoint has plans to procure desktop computers, so that people served can learn how to safely surf the web, find reliable informational articles on topics they are interested in, or create a resume for a job interview.
Funding from the City of Simi Valley has already made an impact in our services and will continue to this upcoming quarter.

The Hispanic Heritage Festival and Celebration was a one-day event held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10 am to 4 pm, at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. The Festival was a community event, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Hispanic and Latino Americans through a variety of performances, exhibits, and activities. These arts and cultural experiences were offered free to the public to ensure full access to community members. There was no admission fee or charge for entertainment, exhibits, or activities. The Festival provided opportunities for local and small businesses, including arts and crafts, and food vendors to participate and offer shopping and dining experiences to the community. The Foundation and Cultural Arts Center staff estimated about 1,000 people attended throughout the day, including visitors, vendors, and volunteers which far exceeded the original expectation of 300-600 people.
The event was housed both inside and outside the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. The outdoor mobile stage, rented from RSRPD, was located in the back of the parking lot. A canopy covered chairs facing the stage and an open area in front of the stage allowed for audience participation and dancing. A DJ stationed at the stage acted as emcee throughout the event and the live performances included: Danza Azteca Xochipilli, Grupo Folklorico Cielito Lindo de Simi Valley, Mariachi Zapopan, Danza Peruanas, Teatro Aztlan De CSUN (storytellers) and Jose Hernandez from Salseros LA! provided Salsa Dance lessons. A community art corner by ART TREK of Newbury Park provided hands-on arts and crafts experiences with clay sugar skulls, murals, and face painting. There were 40 arts and craft vendor booths offering handcrafted merchandise, baked goods, and specialty items and local food vendors offered Hispanic and Latino favorites: Tina’s Tamales, Epic Tacos, BB’s Argentinian Empanadas, Elivira’s Mexican Grill, Munay Peruvian Restaurant, La Dulceria Candy Shop.
