VALLEY CULTURAL ARTS CENTER FOUNDATION BOARD
INTERVIEWS
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council select two City Council Members to interview applicants and nominate three prospective Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Foundation Board members.
BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW
The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Foundation (Foundation) is a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides endowment and annual financial support for the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. The Foundation Board is comprised of up to 21 voting members, including seven City Council -appointed public members. Following the resignation of three City Council-appointed members, there are three vacancies to be filled. The new appointments will begin on July 1, 2025, with one term concluding on June 30, 2026, and two terms concluding on June 30, 2028.
FINDINGS AND ALTERNATIVES
On February 20, 2025, the City initiated a recruitment to fill the current vacancies. The deadline for applications was March 28, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. Recruitment efforts included a press release, cable television public service announcements, social media shares, and posting on the City’s website. The City received six (6) applications to fill the three vacancies. Therefore, it is anticipated that approximately one and one-half hours will be needed to conduct the interviews. Staff recommends that the City Council select two City Council Members to conduct interviews and nominate three applicants to fill the upcoming vacancies on the Foundation Board for terms beginning July 1 , 202 5, with one term concluding on June 30, 2026, and two terms concluding on June 30, 2028.
