Dear Housing Division Staff,
On behalf of The Samaritan Center in Simi Valley, thank you for the opportunity to review the City's Draft CAPER report. We appreciate the City's ongoing commitment to addressing housing and community development needs, particularly for our unhoused and vulnerable neighbors.

As a local nonprofit working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness, I would like to offer the following feedback for your consideration in the final report:

$250,000 for homeless prevention and rapid rehousing funded in June 2024. What did it accomplish?

grant provided to them in FY 2022-23." I suggest mentioning that the funding is over a three year period ending December 2025. In addition, This funding has allowed the Samaritan Center to provide enhanced homeless supportive services and housing prevention programs to our community. Why doesn't the CAPER report include any of the results provided to the City in our Quarterly CCRG reports ?

quantify the amount funded. CDBG funding is less than 10% of the Samaritan Centers total annual budget.

"includes the Winter Shelter for Simi Valley" ; this is not correct. The Winter Shelter (PADS) is funded by other grants, community engagement and contributions. The CDBG funding that the Samaritan Center received ($45,000) funds case management and nothing else. In addition, the funding only funds part of one case worker.
