Payroll for 4 classes per week in house $30 per class per trainer at 48 classes Sound Healing Certification
We have 5 trainers in total, 4 of whom teach both in-house classes (at the gym) and all 5 teach outside classes at other venues. This quarter, we were able to get another trainer certified in Jungshin Fitness, which means we have 4 out of 5 of our trainers certified. The "ongoing" Jungshin cost is access to a trainer portal through Jungshin Fitness that continuously uploads new continuing education content every month.

Trainers get paid $50 per class for classes that are not in the gym (Senior Center, park, churches, etc.). This quarter we taught a total of 36 classes outside of the gym and 48 classes in the gym at $30 per class.

Between our classes at the Senior Center, at the gym and special events, we have served well over 200 seniors this quarter that reside in Simi Valley.

One trainer certification for Sound Healing was paid for, the trainer is still working on completing that certification and should be done by December.

During the first quarter of the grant period, GiGi’s Playhouse Simi Valley has undertaken critical preparatory work to ensure the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of the Kitchen Program.

Volunteer recruitment has been initiated to establish a reliable base of support for program operations.

Concurrently, outreach to donors and community partners has been conducted with the express purpose of securing ongoing financial commitments, thereby safeguarding the program’s ability to operate beyond its initial launch. An inventory of existing donated kitchen equipment and supplies has also been completed, providing clarity on available resources and identifying gaps that must be addressed prior to commencement.

In collaboration with our national office, the official launch of the Kitchen Program has been scheduled for January 19, 2026, with programming to serve children, teens, and adults. In addition, we are in the process of compiling and creating comprehensive guidebooks for our program leads, which will include the resources and educational materials necessary to run the program effectively. While no grant funds have been expended to date, these foundational activities represent essential groundwork to ensure a strong, well- resourced, and sustainable launch in early 2026.

Simi Valley residents at Casa De Paz and La Rahada are excited to receive their new HVCA units. To reduce project costs, Many Mansions' maintenance team is completing the installation in-house. This quarter, unforeseen complications with a sewer line required staff to shift their focus timeline temporarily.

Despite these challenges, the team successfully installed a new HVAC unit for an elderly resident living with a mental health condition. She was especially grateful to have reliable air conditioning during the summer heat.

With the sewer project now complete, the maintenance team has returned its focus to HVAC installations.

With winter fast approaching, staff are committed to completing as many units as possible to ensure vulnerable residents remain safe and comfortable in the colder months ahead.

This quarter, we purchased an additional commercial-size freezer. Because we now receive pallets of items from the Starbucks Warehouse, the decision was made to use the funds to purchase a new freezer rather than attempt to repair another very aged and unreliable freezer.

Currently, we are seeing an increase of approximately 10-20 new families each week, brand new to the whole food pantry system.

A meeting was held with City representatives to discuss the scope of the Teen Center revitalization project, including any potential limitations, since structural changes to the library building cannot currently be made.

A meeting was held with the Library's Teen Librarian to ensure that the Library Foundation's proposal aligns with the needs of teen patrons and supports the Library's Strategic Plan.

A list of potential items to purchase for the Teen Center has been compiled, along with estimated associated costs. These include: carpet ($2700 including installation), two gaming chairs ($520), charging couch ($1370), two charging tables ($1420), gaming station ($3860), collapsible green screen ($220), content creation toolkit ($1170), smart board ($1410), and collaborative mobile desk ($880). Shipping and tax estimated costs are approximately $1450. It is expected that most items will be purchased in November and December. The furniture and bookshelves currently in the Teen Center are expected to be removed during October, then the carpeting will be purchased and installed, and then the new furniture and other items can be purchased and arranged in the space.

Brief Explanation of Project Status (including # served to date) In order to mitigate the impact of Edison Electric Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS), as outlined in our grant proposal, the Samaritan Center contracted Power Fusion Inc. (Electrical Contractor) to install three 50- AMP generator transfer switches at the following areas: Food Pantry/Kitchen, Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), and Office Space. This work was successfully completed in August 2025.

Following the installation, the Samaritan Center purchased the necessary equipment to complete the project in September 2025. This included generators, power cords, natural gas hoses, propane bottles, and security chains and locks. All of the items have been delivered.

The emergency power system has been fully tested by simulating PSPS conditions at each building/area.

These tests confirmed that the system can reliably maintain the critical electrical requirements necessary to support current operations at the Samaritan Center. The subject project is complete. $12,054 $12,054

Re: Simi Community Project Grant – FY2025-26, 1st QTR Report

Dear Cynthia,
The Samaritan Center respectfully submits our FY 2025–26 Project Grant 1st Quarter Report for the Emergency Power Project. As detailed in the report, the project was successfully completed on September 30, 2025, and all awarded funds have been fully expended.

This project provided the installation of three 50 AMP generator transfer switches, two generators, and various equipment to ensure continued operation of essential services during power shutoffs or outages. These upgrades enhance the Samaritan Center’s ability to maintain food distribution, office operations, and community services during emergencies.

Photographs documenting the generators and hardware are provided on page two of this report.

If there are any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or Doug Landon.
