CALL TO ORDER Gil Hurtado, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:30

PRESENT Mayor Gil Hurtado, Vice Mayor Maria Davila, Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos, Council Member Joshua Barron, and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Robert Houston, City Attorney Raul F. Salinas
PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the month of February 2024 as Black History Month.
CLOSED SESSION The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 5:40 p.m. and reconvened at 6:31 p.m. with all Members of Council present. City Attorney Salinas reported the following:
1. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - PENDING
LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a),
54954.9(b)(3)(C)
a. Wendy Garcia v. City of South Gate
An individual who slipped off the side of the curb on the city's street on an unfilled pothole and claims suffered injuries as a result. There was a presentation made by the City Attorney and upon conclusion of that report, there was a motion made by Vice Mayor Davila and seconded by Councilwoman Avalos and on a vote of 4-0, motion passed. Council Member Barron did not participate in the vote on a abundance of caution.
ADJOURNMENT Vice Mayor Davila unanimously adjourned the meeting at 6:33 p.m. and seconded by Council Member Avalos.
