CALL TO ORDER Gil Hurtado, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:40 p.m.

PRESENT Mayor Gil Hurtado, Vice Mayor Maria Davila, Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos, Council Member Joshua Barron, and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Rob Houston, City Attorney Raul F. Salinas

PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the month of April 14- 20, 2024, as National Public Safety Telecomrnunicator's Week. 2 PROCLAMAanONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the month of April 2024, as Autism Awareness month.
3 PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the month of April 7-13, 2024, as National Library Week.
4 PERSONNEL RECRUITMENT
& SELECTION The City Council unanimously received and filed the list of new and promoted 'full-time employees hired or promoted during February 2024.
CLOSED SESSION The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 6:15 p.m. and reconvened at 6:49 p.m. with all Members of Council present. City Attorney Salinas reported the following:
1. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - PENDING
LITIGATION
Pursuant to Goverent Code Section 54956.9(a),
54954.9(b)(3)(C)
a. Maria Fernandez v. City of South Gate, et al.
Item 1(a) is a claim where Mrs. Fernandez claims she slipped on a city sidewalk. The city received a report by the City Attorney with respect to that case and upon completion of that report, there was a motion made by Mayor Hurtado and seconded by Councilwoman Avalos and on a vote of 5-0, the Council authorized the City Attorney to defend the matter.

One (1) - Potential Cases
On item 1, a presentation was made by the City Manager and City Attorney and upon completion of that presentation, there was no reportable action taken.
ADJOURNMENT Mayor Hurtado unanimously adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m. and seconded by Vice Mayor Davila.
