CALL TO ORDER Gil Hurtado, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

PRESENT Mayor Gil Hurtado, Vice Mayor Maria Davila, Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos, Council Member Joshua Barron, and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Rob Houston, Special Legal Counsel Jerry Ruiz
EXCUSED/ABSENT City Attorney Raul F. Salinas
CERTIFICATES On behalf of the City Council, Mayor Gil Hurtado:
a. Presented Certificates of Appreciation to the outgoing 2023 Miss South Gate Court for serving on the court and for their dedication in representing the City; and
b. Introduced the incoming 2024 Miss South Gate Court.
PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring May 7, 2024, as National TeacherAppreciation Day, and May 6 - 10, 2024, as National Teacher Appreciation Week.
PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the month of May 2024, as Older Americans Month.
PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the week of May 12 - 18, 2024, as National Police Week.
PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring May 6 - 12, 2024, as National Nurses Week.

& SELECTION The City Council iu'ianimously received and filed the list of new and promoted full-time employees hired or promoted during March 2024.
PROCLAMATIONS The City Council issued a Proclamation declaring the month of May 5 11, 2024, as the 55thAnnual Professional Clerks Week.
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 23, 2024 CLOSED SESSION: The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 6:24 p.m. and reconvened at 7:05 p.m. with all Members of Council present. Special City Counsel Ruiz reported the following:

ADJOURNMENT Vice Mayor Davila unanimously adjourned the meeting at 7:06 p.m. and seconded by Mayor Hurtado.
