CALL TO ORDER Gil Hurtado, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

PRESENT Mayor Gil Hurtado, Vice Mayor Maria Davila, Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos, Council Member Joshua Barron, and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Rob Houston, City 1 PRESENTATION The City Council oversaw UWS $5,000 Check Presentation to The California Latino Leadership Institute.
2 INTRODUCTION The City Council introduced the winners of the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarships: Ash Sanchez Ist Place and Wendy Lopez 2nd Place.
CLOSED SESSION The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 5:51 p.m. and reconvened at 6:32 p.m. with all Members of Council present. City Attorney Salinas reported the following:

LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a),

Alisha I. Woodward v. City of South Gate
On item 1(a), the City Council heard about Ms. Woodward alleging injuring herself tripping over a metal grate on one of the city's streets. The city engaged with her counsel and a tentative settlement in place. On a motion made by Mayor Hurtado and seconded by Council Member Avalos and on a vote of 5-0, the City Council authorized the City Attorney to convey a settlement offer and move this matter into settlement. The case is not yet settled but the amount will be disclosed consistent with the Brown Act.

On item 2, the City Council was asked to provide very general guidance ver a property located at Gardendale and Paramount Boulevard. After erv brief presentation by staff there was no action taken by the Cit Council on that matter and general guidance was given to staff.
Mario Dominguez asked for clarification on the lawsuits and what the city would do with the property on Paramount Boulevard.
ADJOURNMENT Mayor Hurtado unanimously adjourned the meeting at 6:36 p.m. and seconded by Council Member Barron.
