CALL TO ORDER Gil Hurtado, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

PRESENT Mayor Gil Hurtado, Council Member Joshua Barron, and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Rob Houston, City Attorney Raúl F. Salinas
ABSENT/EXCUSED Vice Mayor Maria Davila and Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos CERTIFICATES The City Council:
a. Presented Certificates of Appreciation to South Gate Police Officers Keith Schwartzman, Avelardo Ocampo, Victoria Lopez, Erik Alvarado, Jennifer Lawrence, and Oliver Perez in recognition of receiving the California Highway Patrol 10851 Award for combating automobile thefts; and
Chief Darren Arakawa will present the 10851-award pin to each recipient.
CERTIEICATES The City Council presented Certificates of Appreciation to South Gate Police Detective Georgina Vargas and South Gate Police Officer Brigette Crum in recognition for receiving the 2023 MADD award.
PERSONNEL RECRUITMENT
& SELECTION The City Council received and filed the list of new and promoted full-time employees hired or promoted during June 2024.
CLOSED SESSION The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 6:08 p.m. and reconvened at 6:23 p.m. with three (3) Members of Council present. City Attorney Salinas reported the following:

Item 1(a) is an alleged injury from a fall on a city sidewalk. On a motion made by Mayor Hurtado and seconded by Council Member Rios and on a not of 3ee, incized. the annount vel ediclosed Thascordance Vish Item 1(b) is a car vs. car accident involving one of the city's vehicles. On a motion made by Mayor Hurtado and seconded by Council Member Barron ios and on a vote of 3-0, the City Council authorized the City Attorney office to defend that matter and the emplovee named in the cas ADJOURNMENT Council Member Barron adjourned the meeting at 6:36 p.m. and seconded by Council Member Rios.
