MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2024
CALL TO ORDER Gil Hurtado, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

PRESENT Mayor Gil Hurtado, Vice Mayor Maria Davila, Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos, Council Member Joshua Barron, and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Rob Houston, City Attorney Raul F. Salinas
CLOSED SESSION 1. CONFERENCE WITH LABOR NEGOTIATOR
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54957.6
Agency Representation: Rob Houston, City Manager
Employee Organizations: SGPMMA, SGMEA
Mayor Hurtado asked if anyone in the audience wished to speak and any emails received on any of these items.
Franbert Calderon comes from a union family and member of UFCW Local 770. He stands with the members of SEIU Local 721. Mr. Calderon thanked the Mayor and Vice Mayor for always supporting South Gate employees. Mr. Calderon asked Councilwoman Avalos to support South Gate employees.
Osie Harrell, President of the PMMA understands the City's concerns on longevity and the :tuture of the city's financial. Mr. Harrel is asking for the City's consideration on the employees services and commitment.
Mayor Hurtado asked Mr. Harrell how many employees are being represented. Mr. Harrell responded 140 for MEA and 47 for PMMA.
Having no one else come forward, Mayor Hurtado closed the audience portion.
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 28, 2024 The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 5:07 p.m. and reconvened at 6:39 p.m. with all Members of Council present. City Attorney Salinas reported the following:

The City Council heard a presentation by the representative and at the conclusion of the presentation Council provided guidance, but there was no reportable action taken.
Councilmember Barron participated throughout the entire closed session meeting and was excused from coming out after closed session.
ADJOURNMENT Vice Mayor Davila unanimously adjoumed the meeting at 6:32 p.m. and seconded by Council Member Rios.
PASSED and APPROVED this 26ol day of November 2024.
