CALL TO ORDER Maria Davila, Mayor called a Special City Council Meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

PRESENT Mayor Maria Davila, Vice Mayor Joshua Barron, Council Member Maria del Pilar Avalos, Council Member Gil Hurtado and Council Member Al Rios; City Treasurer Jose De La Paz, City Manager Rob Houston, City Attorney Raul F. Salinas
1 PERSONNEL RECRUITMENT
& SELECTION The City Council unanimously received and filed the list of new and promoted full-time employees hired or promoted during January 2025.
CLOSED SESSION The Council Members recessed into Closed Session at 5:40 p.m. and reconvened at 6:28 p.m. with all Members of Council present. City Attorney Salinas reported the following:
1. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAl COUNSEL - PENDING
LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a),
54954.9(b)(3)(C)
a. Yessenia A. Garcia Godinez v. City of South Gate On item 1(a), the city received a claim from Ms. Godinez involving a traffic accident. The Huntington Park police concluded that Ms. Godinez was at fault, but she is still filing a claim against the city. On a motion that was made by Councilwoman Avalos and seconded by Mayor Davila and on a vote of 5-0, the City Council denied that claim.
2. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED
LITIGATION
Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(c)
One (1) - Potential Case
On item 2, a presentation was made by the City Attorney and City Manager and upon completion of that presentation, there was no action taken.
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 25, 2025 ADJOURNMENT Council MemberAvalos unanimously adjourned the meeting at 6:32 p.m. and seconded by Council Member Hurtado.
