Subject: Letter of Support for the North County Economic Advancement Center Dear Mayor Nagales,
I am writing to express the County’s appreciation and continued support for the Economic Advancement Center (EAC) established by the City of South San Francisco to help small businesses and job seekers. In 2021, when San Mateo County contributed $200,000 toward the small business assistance programs at the EAC, we hoped the program would assist small business owners living throughout north county.

I was pleased to see that from July of 2021 through December of 2021, 91 small business owners from Brisbane, Daly City, Colma, Pacifica, San Bruno and South San Francisco participated in business development classes, attended workshops, and received business coaching support through programs provided by Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center at the EAC. The classes and workshops, including marketing, business credit, financial projection, and social media advertising programs were well attended as were the multiple pop-up events coordinated by Renaissance where local businesses were able to market and showcase their products and services.

The February 28, 2022 ribbon cutting at 366 Grant Avenue was a great milestone for the EAC. I am sure clients and staff look forward to attending programs and events in person at the new EAC facility in the coming months.

Please accept my congratulations on developing the EAC, an important new community resource the County was pleased to support. I’d also like to extend congratulations on securing federal and state grants to support the EAC work. I am especially pleased that grant funding has been secured to continue offering small business assistance to all north county residents and expand employment services to north county residents too. I look forward to continued updates on the accomplishments of the EAC.

Sincerely,
Michael P. Callagy
