Mayor Nagales and City Council, I strongly support Cypress park to be upgraded. We only have one swing set for teenagers. We take our children to park, but there’s nothing there.

We should have a children area just like Orange park and other playgrounds. It’s unfair that we don’t matter to anyone and can’t even have a decent park for our children. Thank you.

Cypress park should be renovated. It has extremely old equipment that is no longer able to be used by children.

Honorable Mayor and Council,
There is still much to be understood about our disadvantaged and silent community and how decisions affect a child’s life starting from a tender age and growing up being raised in an underserved and disadvantaged community and in households that face many barriers. We rely on public leadership to have an understanding of our needs, without having stepped in our shoes or lived our lives. Residents regularly receive mailers about benefits of playgrounds, parks, outdoor recreation etc. There is no need for mailers where there’s a human understanding of the many benefits, especially to children and even more so, to a silent community that does not have equal opportunities to voice concerns or needs disregarded. We are a forgotten, yet very important and equally important, community that has contributed just as much or even more, to SSF’ economy and rich history.

I urge Council to reconsider the “feasibility” of upgrading a playground that is absolutely essential to children and families.

We deserve and expect the same as any other neighborhood and be given the respect deserved and earned!! With all respect and mindfulness to families, community has already paid ultimate price! There is nothing more precious than a child’s life. There should not be a feasibility, nor a why or how factor in providing needs to our most vulnerable people and entire community.

We are grateful for the Pine park; however this site serves a separate and much more meaningful purpose than just a community park.

Residents near the Cypress Park area continue to be underheard and underrepresented.

Cypress Park is in need of an upgrade, but the city shows no initiative to actively improve the standard of living for these residents.

During Old Town’s presentation of the General Plan, the white boards were hidden, out of view for public comment. They were taken out upon request. It is continuously disheartening and unacceptable for a disadvantaged community to be silenced and not provided the same opportunities and respect for a voice, especially when event was not given the same level of attention in focusing on the voices of the people. It’s insulting that Old Town is not given a fair opportunity in having a voice nor equal ground. Parks around SSF are continuously being upgraded, yet not “feasible” to upgrade a child’s playground? Why are our children being neglected and deprived of a decent playground where it’s most needed - in a community that centers around families with multiple young children in households. The inequities and lack of understanding towards Latinx community is inexcusable. There is no other logical explanation other than racial and social economic inequities towards a community of color with Latinx roots.
