Hello Planning Commission
Honorable Commissioners
Please save the MSB for the Residents of South San Francisco to utilize.

There is such a need for community and event space in this area.

There is also a need for enough space for a fully functional Seniors Services.

Please be visionary and consider how Recreation services has been growing and will continue to grow and for the necessity to set aside space for growth.

Putting Library Services into the same space as Recreation will doom the library and encroach on its space as well.

The MSB space is already preventing groups from using it due to lack of space.

Please consider a moratorium on destruction for at least another 10 years to see how well the community will utilize the MSB once Recreation has relocated.

Please wait and revisit this concept in the year 2033.

Thank you for your deep, heartfelt considerations.
2 Grateful for your service

Hello,
Would this comment for Item 3 please be read into the record at tonight's meeting? Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Ethan J. Mizzi
Good evening Chair Shihadeh, Members of the Planning Commission, Staff, and those watching.

My name is Ethan Mizzi, though i am Chair of the South San Francisco Youth Commission, I speak for myself and myself only. I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Staff and the consultants 4 for their work on the immense task that was drafting the General Plan and the Housing Element. I am happy the City is moving in the right direction in a number of ways. First off, I would greatly appreciate if this Commission would consider an amendment to this element to allow 5 plexes to be built City‐wide and that High Density Mixed Use to be allowed within a mile of South City and San Bruno's BART stations. We need more gentle density throughout the City's neighborhoods and we need much more high density housing near rapid transit. Secondly, regarding the land that currently houses the Municipal Services Building and adjacent properties, I feel that a certain element in our City who would see something other than housing there are being counterproductive and whether actively or not, are hostile to the future of our City. Being opposed to growth and development works against the best interests of this City and those who currently and will in the future reside in our fair City. Of course high density housing should be built on the MSB site, it is outrageous to say otherwise. Regardless of what some NIMBYs and those who favor exclusion would say, any downzoning of that parcel I believe would be found to be illegal under SB 330 and would probably draw the watchful eye of the State and HCD. Do not take any NIMBY comments calling for downzoning or not building housing on the MSB land seriously. They do not have the best intentions for our City or its future in mind. Please recommend the adoption of this housing element. Thank you for your time, and goodnight. 5 Rozzi, Tony

Subject: Municipal Services Building, 33 Arroyo Drive, South San FranciscoThe Municipal Services Building located at 33 Arroyo Drive is on the agenda for approval by the Planning Commission to demolish it and replace it with high density low-income housing.

Contrary to what we were led to believe, the Municipal Services Building is an ADA compliant building and is operating in accordance with the building codes. If it were not a safe building, the Command Operations of the South San Francisco Police Department, the South San Francisco Fire Department, the Park and Recreation Offices and classes, and the public who visit this building would have been relocated to other buildings in the city over the past years.

We have one senior center serving one part of our city and, with few exceptions, it caters to the infirmed and Adult Daycare population. Our aging population of South San Francisco is growing, and we demand the preservation of the Municipal Services Building to be a senior center that can house the South San Francisco Historical Society’s museum, the South San Francisco Cultural Arts, and for the enjoyment of the public of all ages.

Dear SSF officials,
The fact that South San Francisco is woefully deficient in a quality Senior Center for active seniors such as our neighbors San Bruno and Daly City provide is frankly embarrassing. Their quality programs, welcoming facilities and abundance of programs and events makes South San Francisco seem quite behind the times and uncaring of its senior population. Our P&R programs have been skimpy, and lacking broad interest and stimulating variety, making us look old fashioned and dull.

We’ve lived in SSF for just over 30 years, and would love to be more engaged and interactive but with the only senior services readily available being for those seniors needing more one on one care, we can only turn to our neighboring cities and enjoy their generous and educational programs.

The Municipal Services Building located at 33 Arroyo Drive is on the agenda for approval by the Planning Commission to demolish it and replace it with high density low-income housing. Contrary to what we were led to believe, the Municipal Services Building is an ADA compliant building and is operating in accordance with the building codes. Subject: South San Francisco: Preserve, protect, strengthen and dedicate the Municipal Services Building as a senior campus
[NOTICE:  This message originated outside of City of South San Francisco ‐‐ DO NOT CLICK on links or open attachments unless you are sure the content is safe.]
Dear South San Francisco Elected And Unelected
Officials/Representatives:

It is unsustainable to cripple and severely impair and abolish opportunities for our seniors in South San Francisco. Instead, we must prioritize South San Francisco's seniors over conglomerate corporations, political ambitions and major donors by preserving the Municipal Services Building (MSB).

The City must preserve and protect the MSB and dedicate it for the purpose of converting it into a thriving SENIOR CIVIC HISTORICAL & CULTURAL ARTS BUILDING, located at 33 Arroyo Drive, in SSF.  Without doing so is to compromise the health and welfare of our seniors and any decision to the contrary demonstrates that South San Francisco (SSF) officials represent SSF but they despise its residents.

A member of a legislative body who intends to deprive the public of information to which the member knows, or has reason to know the public is entitled, is guilty of a crime.

For years, the City has embarked on an opportunistic marketing campaign to shape and influence outcomes with skewed narratives to 13 convince the public that the building is "unsafe" as the City's plans to demolish the MSB isn't palatable with SSF residents.

The MSB is a significant community asset that is an historically significant building. Official records reflect that the building is up to code, it is ADA compliant, it is structurally sound and it is a hugely robust culturally contributing factor to the sense of place, as well as the heath and wellbeing of our seniors.

Downplaying the MSB as though its broader political social cultural and economic history is of no value is indeed shortsighted, and to the contrary, as it has all the more significance historically now with our own native South San Franciscan, US Congressman Kevin Mullin being elected honorable member of the 118th United States Congress.

Underscoring this historic nature is the fact that the 118th US Congress will conduct unprecedented investigations into the biggest crime ever committed against humanity by the biotech and pharmaceutical industries that has resulted in the epidemic of people who are dying suddenly from mass murder and the genocide that has been perpetrated and committed against the world's population.

The US Census reflects that our senior population in SSF is significant and growing at more than 24% of the population, yet our city leadership has succumbed to the whims of biotech companies east of 101 and subjugated every man woman and child in SSF to its misdirection of steering investment of city revenue to everything biotech.

But our leadership is putting the cart before the horse it seems because residents have not yet laid eyes on evidence of the study sessions, reports, and independent analysis by the City exploring the significant 14 negative impacts that will be suffered by SSF seniors and all other age groups by the removal and loss of the MSB.

As previously requested of the City: Where are those reports? Where is the public record with citations, points and authorities from outside independent experts that the City, and each planning commissioner, as well as member of city council has individually and independently relied upon to determine the MSB at 33 Arroyo Drive in South San Francisco is fair game to demolish?
To deprive South San Francisco and especially our seniors of the MSB is not just a dereliction of duty, it's a crime.

Honorable officials, if you haven't figured it out yet, people don't accept what you're pushing so don't act like residents are all in with the misleading rhetoric as it's purely an act of predators who are fiscally and morally irresponsible. Additionally, it is unbecoming and shows a lack of moral core to turn a blind eye to your constituents' needs.

SSF's Housing Element of 2023‐2031 earmarks the MSB site by default for demolition. No, the intent to demolish it isn't SPECIFICALLY SPELLED OUT IN BLACK AND WHITE because the overall plan is to pave a path for political ambitions, to benefit big donors and deprive SSF seniors and residents of what is long overdue: A robust and thriving SENIOR CIVIC HISTORICAL & CULTURAL ARTS BUILDING, at 33 Arroyo Drive, in SSF, on the west side.

To these ends, I'll go back to my original question: What studies, what independent expert analysis reports and historical preservation criteria have you considered in ruling out the historical significance of the South San Francisco Municipal Services Building (MSB) in moving to slate it for demolition?
15 Seven years ago, then mayor, Mark Addiego, and then city manager, Mike Futrell marketed the "unsafe" narrative with the intent to defraud the public of its historically significant infrastructure, asset and resource.

It is time to redirect attention from the exorbitant expansion east of 101 for the benefit of biotech, and start to care about South San Francisco residents once and for all by investing your focus on preserving, protecting, strengthening and dedicating the MSB as it should be: A senior campus. Thank you.

Respectfully,
Fionnola Villamejor.

infirmed and Adult Daycare population. Our aging population of South San Francisco is growing, and we
demand the preservation of the Municipal Services Building to be a senior center that can house the
South San Francisco Historical Society’s museum, the South San Francisco Cultural Arts, 22 and for the
enjoyment of the public of all ages.

For those of us who have been here for decades now and
are seniors, it is difficult to see so much of South San Francisco transformed into high density housing. I
understand the arguments for high density housing, and I also know the feeling that South San Francisco is losing tis soul. The old library on West Orange will soon be
gone, replaced by a spiritless building that looks like a package of wound spaghetti noodles. Are you going to
destroy the Municipal Service Building too? Please
preserve it and let it continue to serve teh community.

Please consider revising plans for this structure to be used by us (voting citizens and residents of South San Francisco) for the benefit of the public in the city.

It would appear that the needs of citizenry have not been considered in making plans for the building’s future….

SSF Planning Commission:

This message is in regards to our city’s Municipal Building.  It’s been brought to my attention that this Thursday evening the MSB is on the agenda to vote for the demolition of this important building.  I ask you..please don’t let this happen.

I support the growth of people living in our city, however it’s extremely important that we also provide a healthy living environment.  The need for a Senior Center is extremely important.   The current MSB location is perfectly situated and totally functional in how it’s built for seniors and all groups.

Has anyone thought of the importance of a need for a building in case of an emergency? The MSB would be perfect on this side of SSF.

Why do we want to spend more money when we already have such a great building of value? Do we really want to build more apartment high rises in this area?? The area is already extremely congested with traffic and large buildings.

As suggested at other meetings these large apartments should be built on the outline of the city, so as not to congest or overburden already overbuilt areas.

How about Oysters Point?
I appreciate your support and remembering; your senior days are coming too.  What will you do in your  “Golden Years”?
Sincerely,

Mr. Rozzi and City Council Members,
Over a year ago, I wrote to the Council and indicated that it would be a tragedy to demolish the Municipal Services Bldg.  I never received an answer to that email. There are so many uses for this building – not to mention that so many of us have been attending classes there and other events for years.  The ballroom, the arched windows – these should be preserved – not demolished – the foyer area where people sit and read and youngsters do homework, etc.  The new building is not going to be able to serve all the community the way this MSB has done – there’s so much traffic already going into the new police station and hardly any street parking.

There should be community input about this decision – a town hall meeting.  This is the first I have heard about this decision being made so quickly.

The points here below made by Cindy to Everything South City are right on target.

Commission to demolish it and replace it with high density low-income housing.

Contrary to what we were led to believe, the Municipal Services Building is an ADA compliant building
and is operating in accordance with the building codes. If it were not a safe building, the Command
Operations of the South San Francisco Police Department, the South San Francisco Fire Department, the
Park and Recreation Offices and classes, and the public who visit this building would have been relocated to other buildings in the city over the past years.

I’m all for housing, but we are surrounded now by huge buildings where rent is outrageous.

Before approving the demolishment of 33 Arroyo please listen to your constituents.  The senior citizens, their children, and their grandchildren are against more high density buildings and plead that this space be used as a meeting place for senior activities.  The current facilities (Baden) are not adequate.

The public was led to believe that 33 Arroyo was not “built up to code”.  This is false.  Please do not continue to proceed by misinforming the public.

In addition it has been asked if there will be any repercussions to those who were liable by using false information to get questionable projects passed and built?

Since my retirement 10 years ago, I have participated in Senior Yoga at Magnolia, recently renamed Roberta Teglia Center. The  only senior center serving one part of our city. Yoga has been the most popular class offered and met Tuesdays and Thursdays.  However, due to the limited room size and  inadequate parking, class size was restricted to 35 people. Long standing, as well as newer participants were turned away if maximum was met. Folks were arriving an hour before class just to secure a spot. I live on the opposite side of our City.  it was very disappointing to drive there, try to find any place to park in surrounding neighborhood as lot was filled, especially during street cleaning on Tuesday, to be told class was full.

After much frustration by many, it became necessary to restrict class size and participants can only attend one class per week.

Over the years, many activities once offered at this center have disappeared. The main focus seems to be to the infirmed and Adult Daycare population, which is definitely needed. However, the aging population of South San Francisco is growing, and as a taxpayer and homeowner,  I strongly feel we deserve to have both an adequate facility and additional activities to enjoy in our senior years. It has been documented that keeping active benefits older adults.

Many our of seniors have now taken advantage of the many activities offered by the city of San Bruno, though a greater number cannot do so due to restrictions such as driving etc  This is a sad fact that South San Francisco public servants seem to ignore, while declaring to be such a forward thinking city.

The preservation of the Municipal Services Building to a senior center will assure the needs of a larger number of our residents. The location is served by both public transportation and the City's free shuttle for those unable to drive. The existing facility can also house the South San Francisco Historical Society’s museum and the South San Francisco Cultural Arts, for the enjoyment of the public of all ages.

Please do what is right for your senior residents who want to enjoy activities and thrive. Preserve the building. Thank you.

Please do not demolish this building; repurpose it instead.

Subject: SAVE the Municipal Svce Bldg (MSB)
[NOTICE:  This message originated outside of City of South San Francisco ‐‐ DO NOT CLICK on links or open attachments unless you are sure the content is safe.]
Dear Honorable Councilmembers, Planning Commission,
Nell Selander, Tony Rozzi :

I rise to speak in favor of keeping the Municipal Service Bldg. (MSB) what it is today, a shelter, a meeting place, a respite under the light of the moon or the sun. Save the atrium!
There is plenty of history at the MSB; at least 50 years worth. The bio-tech industry Giant Genetech first pitched the idea back in the day(circa1976). Our own first female on the City Council, Roberta Teglia, served and spoke with reservation of the transition from the Industrial City to Bio-Tech to replace the steel industries (will there be monkeys with 2 heads?), slaughterhouses and coffee mills. The first Latino councilmember, Pedro Gonzales served his term there and Councilman Mark Addiego was the first 20 something year old on the council! A manhunt captured the criminal, Leonard Lake and was apprehended at the So.City Lumber Yard. He took his own life by cyanide poison when taken into custody at the police station located at the MSB. Some on the present council have no clue of the significance of this building because you weren't born or moved here yet to be witness. As a young mother I followed my husband from the Big City, San Francisco, with 3 little ones in tow. It was a time worth remembering and it is now time to spare its legacy for the future as a bridge to the recent past. City Hall and the Grand Ave. Library, 48 Palmyre Schwartz are other buildings that have been preserved to hang on to 100 years of history, let the MSB be next. I appeal to the South City natives to save the Municipal Service Bldg from the wrecking ball for the value this building has in our hearts and history due in part for mourning the loss of its quality of living we enjoyed due to the runaway building; allow us to preserve a bit of the history.

The community voted a .5ct sales tax for senior programs, and the disabled in 2015. To date I know of no program expansion for such programs and request we use funding to lease the MSB to the community for $1. Let's give history more room. Lest we forget. 49 Rozzi, Tony

Dear Mr.Rozzi,
It has been brought to my attention that the Municipal Services Building located at 33 Arroyo Drive is on the agenda for approval by the Planning Commission to demolish it and replace it with high‐density low‐income housing.

Contrary to what the residents were led to believe, the Municipal Services Building is an ADA‐compliant building and is operating in accordance with the building codes. If it were not a safe building, the Command Operations of the South San Francisco Police Department, the South San Francisco Fire Department, the Park and Recreation Offices and classes, and the public who visit this building would have been relocated to other buildings in the city over the past years.

South San Francisco residents have one senior center serving one part of our city and, with few exceptions, it caters to the infirmed and Adult Daycare population. Our aging population in South San Francisco is growing, and we demand the preservation of the Municipal Services Building to be a senior center that can house the South San Francisco Historical Society’s museum, the South San Francisco Cultural Arts, and for the enjoyment of the public of all ages.

Many South San Francisco seniors currently have to travel outside of South City to Millbrae and San Bruno to utilize its senior recreational services.  It is a sad state when our seniors cannot enjoy healthy interactions and joyful experiences in their own city!
I urge the city to preserve the Municpal Services Building and cater to the underserved senior population.  Our residents must have input on the future of the MSB.

Sincerely,
Tom Carney

Subject: Preserve Municipal Services Building, 33 Arroyo Drive, On the agenda for your Planning Commission meeting Thursday, January 19, is the approval to demolish the Municipal Services Building (MSB) located at 33 Arroyo Drive and replace it with high-density, low-income housing. Don't Approve!
Contrary to what South San Francisco residents were led to believe, the MSB is an ADA compliant building and is operating in accordance with the building codes. If it were not a safe building, the Command Operations of the South San Francisco Police Department, the South San Francisco Fire Department, the Park and Recreation Offices and classes, and the public who visit this building would have been relocated to other buildings in the city over the past years. We have ONE senior center serving one part of our city and, with few exceptions, it caters to the informed and Adult Daycare population. Our aging population of South San Francisco is growing; you've seen the numbers that others have provided. We demand the preservation of the Municipal Services Building to be a senior center that can house the South San Francisco Historical Society's museum, the South San Francisco Cultural Arts, a safe and congenial gathering spot for seniors, and for the enjoyment of the public of all ages. (Even IF, even IF -- the big IF -- it requires retrofitting, we need such a location, with good parking and amenities just like the MSB provides, and it is worthy of investment.) Why tear down something that works?
I have attended functions at the San Bruno Senior Center; their Monday-Wednesday-Friday morning hikes/walks with coffee afterwards. They sell pastries at a reduced price. A zumba class is sometimes held as we gathered for coffee. There is a table to leave used magazines or paperbacks and I have seen that very well used. It is embarrassing that I have to go to another city to have a well-utilized, functioning, happy, wellorganized gathering place for seniors to learn and to congregate. They also provide subsidized lunches (I think by the county). Their programming has contained grief classes, tech classes, mahjong, chess, etc. Of course, non-San Bruno residents have to pay an additional fee.

Please, South City, let's get with it! This is such a major deficit in our community to not provide more offerings and to have neighboring cities outshine us to this degree. The best use of the MSB is for this purpose, not for yet more additional high density housing considering the multitude of developments already happening in our neighborhoods. You already know what a traffic and community nightmare that will be. As a lifelong resident, I truly can't believe this is even under consideration. (And Mark, c'mon, we graduated together; don't do this to the community!)
51 Thank you for your consideration. Thank you for doing the right thing by not approving the demolition and development of housing at the site. South City has a big heart. We've proven that over generations. Let's make sure it's in the right place in caring for the senior population at the MSB location. We could do so much there...

The Municipal Services Building located at 33 Arroyo Drive is on the agenda for approval by the Planning Commission to demolish it and replace it with high density low-income housing.

The Municipal Services Building is an ADA compliant building and is operating in accordance with the building codes. For the past seven years, it has served as the Police Command Center, housed the South San Francisco Fire Department, the Park and Recreation Offices and classes, rented for social events, and a gathering place for the public to enjoy.

Magnolia Center mainly serves the infirmed and Adult Daycare population. We have had “aging forums” to “improve our quality of life”, but as our aging population continues to grow, and more and more healthy seniors join these residents, we need to preserve the Municipal Services Building as a senior center and a multifunctional building that can house the South San Francisco Historical Society’s museum, the South San Francisco Cultural Arts, and for the enjoyment of the public of all ages.

Dear Planning Commission Members:

I urge you to postpone the decision concerning the Municipal Services Building and ask that it be removed from the housing packet you are considering at the Planning Commission meeting this Thursday, January 19th.

As our aging population (55 years and older) is growing, one senior center located in one part of the City, which caters to, with few exceptions, the infirm, and functions as an Adult Daycare facility is inadequate and does not meet the needs of the South San Francisco senior residents.

We need a dedicated senior center for our aging and active seniors. In the 2021 census, the population of South San Francisco was 66,331 with 24 percent aged 60 and older. The Municipal Services Building can be combined with the South San Francisco Historical Society, the South San Francisco Cultural Arts Commission, and other activities for our seniors and our youth that is a place to enjoy for everyone.

Most of our city is built out with development on top of development. We have two libraries, Grand Avenue and the new Campus, (Orange is slated for childcare), and we have one senior center on Magnolia. We need another senior center in this part of the city for our aging community.

I requested under the Public Records Act on 12/8/22 every and all records pertaining to the Municipal Services Building. To date, I have received a few, and the clerk has given herself two extensions so far.

The danger with you approving the Municipal Services Building as part of this housing element is, as had happened with Mike Futrell, who had no roots in our community, when I asked him in 2019 why all the developments we had seen thus far, he said, “They’ve been approved, and I’m going to implement them.” So, if the new City Manager has no roots in our community like Mike Futrell, and is making a name for himself, yet leaves, we may again be dealing with a person who cares more about his climb to political aspirations than the community he is supposed to serve.

Others have said why the Municipal Services Building should be preserved as a senior/multi-functional building – it is ADA compliant and up to code; it has ample parking; it has been used for the past seven years without incident as the Police Command Center, the Fire Department, Park and Recreation classes and offices, and social events; it is close to transit; and it has historical value and significance for our residents.

Please preserve the Municipal Services Building.

Thank you,
Cynthia Marcopulos

Thursday, January 19th, the future of the Municipal Services Building is being combined with a decision for housing
developments.

I am an 84-year young Senior citizen, having lived in South San Francisco since 1962, in my original home. Since services and activities are barely available for an active senior, I frequent the San Bruno Senior Center that provides me with socialization and activities.

I am asking that the Municipal Services Building be preserved for a senior center that can be used by other groups as well.

Thank you,

Hello,
I want to provide support for retaining the Municipal Service Bldg. as a senior center or multi-use facility. I am a homeowner in Buri Buri, have lived here for 34 years and am now in my 80s. When I retired in 2000 from my job in San Francisco I had opportunities to use more of the services and businesses available in SSF. My dentist was here, my hair salon, gas station, grocery store. Doctors were outside of SSF. I always went to shopping malls further down the Peninsula and except for occasional fast food never visited any restaurants in SSF. Parking and access were generally the obstacles to going to a downtown restaurant. I liked the convenience of the MSB because there was good parking and I felt safe. It was a place to drop off expired medications in the lobby. I took some classes, attended some City Council meetings, and participated in a Citizens' Police Academy at that location. I especially appreciated the underbuilding parking because I became mobility impaired and knew the police and other help were close by.

I have never been to the downtown City Hall or library because they appear to present difficulty for me. I attended a Mature Driving Class presented by the CHP at the downtown senior center. I had difficulty parking and found moving around in that facility was difficult with a walker. I would probably never return to any event there. Given the significant population of seniors in SSF I believe having the MSB available for seniors would be helpful. At this point it is unknown how the new Civic Center will work for seniors and persons with disabilities. Retaining the downtown senior center seems practical too since I understand it to be an adult day care, Meals on Wheels lunches and bingo.

I have found the new Police Station to be difficult. I made 5 attempts to drop off an unused cell phone for their Domestic Violence Program, and there was never a parking place. The construction workers were using all the spaces on both sides of Antoinette Lane. I called someone in a City office to request that designated parking with time limits be provided at the Police Station, similar to what was at the MSB when the Police Station was there.
59 The pandemic years have demonstrated to many seniors how really isolated we are when there is no safe place to go. I hope MSB will remain available for seniors and that additional classes and activities designed for seniors will be added to this location.

Thanks for reading.

It seems the city government of South San Francisco finds itself in a rare, enviable position. Many of the senior citizens that make up a large percentage of this city's residents, myself included, are clamoring for an additional senior/cultural arts center on the west side of town, as the existing senior center is inconvenient and inadequate. The city already has a suitable facility available in city inventory, the soon to be former MSB at 33 Arroyo. Contrary to what certain city officials would have us believe, this building is safe otherwise the city's continued use of it would be considered reckless and invite exposure to liability suits from individuals should they be injured on the premises. We're using it now so we know it's safe, don't we? It is large, can accommodate a number of community uses and I would imagine it's paid for. It also houses a fire station that will no longer have to be relocated at extreme additional expense. Unlike so many other properties that have been sold from city inventory, I'm guessing at the behest of industry and developers, the parcel purchased across the street (Camaritas) for a new fire station can remain in city inventory. Just think of the cost savings. I'd like to address Mr. Addiego with a reminder of days gone by when the city historically would grant long term leases but never sell the property because...wait for it...you can only sell the properties once. It's never fiscally responsible to purge the bank account. My my how times have changed.

Now, while I know the plan to retain the MSB building for community benefit conflicts with the plans to build the first 150 unit phase of SSF's version of Daly City's Geneva Towers and potentially a future 1000 unit project in a cooperative with Pacific Market, I'm guessing that it was spearheaded by our departed city manager who, curiously, only mentioned it once publicly at a CC meeting. I wonder why? That being the case, even though a massive low income housing project would be a feather in our Mr. Coleman's ambitious cap, it may not be the residents' "cup of tea." In the end, after creating what many residents feel are many messes in our city, with the CM's departure we can address the will of the residents, not just the will of a handful of city officials. After leaving us for the promise of Riverside, CA. after his nine year reign, the messes left behind are kinda' like when I walk my dog, the only difference being, I clean up after my dog.

So in closing, count me as another long term city resident who advocates the re-purposing of the old MSB for a senior/cultural arts center. Call me selfish but my advocacy is based on my investment in the soul and history of the city I call home. That's me, what are your motives? Cory A. David 61 Rozzi, Tony

Subject: Municipal Services Building, 33 Arroyo Dr.

I’m 76 and have lived in SSF all my life, except for 10 months while my husband was in the Army. My husband was born here, on Grand Avenue.

We have been aware of the request for demolition of the MSB building, to build city owned, low cost housing.

We have been told for years that this building is not up to code and unsafe, but it does meet ADA codes and has continued for many years to serve as a meeting place, police and fire department, recreational, voting center, a place for senior functions , and a rental for parties. We want to keep this space for Seniors and our citizens to use. No one has cared about liability for years and years, until our council has decided to build on every square inch of this city, including that eyesore on Chestnut and El Camino. It still is not affordable for most and “low cost housing” is really not low cost.

We remember all the promises we’ve been given all these years and know a lot of these so called benefits are not always paid for. We request the planning commission vote down the demolition and allow us to keep this building that provides benefits to “our citizens”.

Thank You
