I live, and am a student in the South San Francisco. The climate is changing fast, and we need to enact change as soon as possible. Many others and I can surely say we have faced the direct results of a changing climate. Drastic fires that turned the sky orange and didn’t allow us to even go outside, and excessive amounts of rain, wind, and hail that made me afraid to leave my classroom. Not just this, but extreme weather patterns and natural disasters have devastated much of our country: extended extreme droughts, storms, heat waves, sea level rise, flooding-- have all already affected the Bay Area community. It is crucial that we drastically reduce our carbon emissions and decarbonize our economy, for the sake of our generation, and generations to come, as this problem is only getting worse.
