On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the Design Review Board reviewed your plans to construct a new Aquatic Center at Orange Memorial Park in the Parks and Recreation (PR) Zone District in accordance with Title 20 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code.
The Chief Planner and the Design Review Board have determined that this application complies and pursuant to Title 20, Section 20.480 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code and Design Guidelines after the following changes have been made to the plans:
1. The Board liked the proposed design concept.
2. The Board would like to see a more activated area behind the outdoor pool windscreen with a pedestrian walkway or seating areas to engage and activate the area.
3. Add some articulation to the windscreen wall facing out towards the playing fields to help break up the long flat wall. Add some different material finishes.
4. Review the corner element where the aquatic sign is being proposed, as the area looks unbalance and with a disconnected appearance.
5. Consider planting the trees around the pool further back to keep the winds from blowing the leaves into the outdoor pool and creating maintenance issues.
6. The Board will review a more detailed plan during the Design Drawings phase.

On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, the Design Review Board reviewed your plans for a CEQA determination to construct a new Aquatic Center at Orange Memorial Park in the Parks and Recreation (PR) Zone District in accordance with Title 20 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code.
The Chief Planner and the Design Review Board have determined that this application is complying and pursuant to Title 20, Section 20.480 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code and Design Guidelines after the following changes have been made to the plans:
1. The Board liked the revised proposed design concept with the warm color pallette.
2. Consisder using the same material finishes on all the elevations, including the proposed wind screen wall.
3. The proposed landscaping plan will work for the site, and recommends not overusing Native Sycamore trees for this site as they can easily become disfigured.
4. Recommend Approval with Conditions and can proceed to a future Planning Commission meeting.
