2 SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE
Why are you interested in serving as a Boards and Commissions member? What do you feel you could contribute?
What qualifies you for this appointment?
What is your vision for growth in South San Francisco?
I am interested in serving on one of the two Boards for South San Francisco.
I am a recent resident of South San Francisco, my husband and I purchased our first home for our family here in 2019. Throughout the time I have been a resident I have met many long term and newer residents to the city through community events and my children's school activities. I believe that I can bring a new perspective grounded in the values of city and assist with the planning for a more friendly walking and biking environment. My position in district 1 and our location to many attractions via walking and biking make me an ideal candidate for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. I am also interested in the Equity and Public Safety I am a mom and a resident interested in getting more involved in our city. I have lived in the bay area for over 15 years and I have worked as an Assistant Dean at Stanford University for most of my career in higher education. My experience working in education and in our system at Stanford has provided me with unique perspectives and skills including facilitation and consensus building with others from many different viewpoints, budgetary experience and prioritizing programs for the most overall good, while managing competing needs and expectations. I have an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, in Psychology and Social Behavior with minors in public health and education. I hold a graduate degree from Colorado State University in Student Affairs in Higher Education.
I would like to see South San Francisco be a city where residents keep the same small town feeling while being open and welcoming to new residents of our city. I would like to see more community wide events in pockets of our cities and neighborhoods. For example I would love to see promotion o more activities that promote a neighborhood identity and camaraderie that would facilitate neighbors helping neighbors in the spirit of this California State initiative https://www.californiavolunteers.ca.gov/neighbor-to-neighbor/ I would like for our city to focus more on planning green spaces, and keeping our green spaces beautiful, while making it more pedestrian and bicycle friendly for commuter and recreation purposes I would like for South San Francisco to continue to celebrate diversity, not just through the vast art and cultural programs that we have, but by integrating equity and diversity work in our administrative
