RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL
MOSQUITO CONTROL AWARENESS WEEK
June 15-21, 2025
WHEREAS, The American Mosquito Control Association has declared the week of June 15 – 21, 2025 as National Mosquito Control Awareness Week; and WHEREAS, mosquitoes and other vectors spread diseases such as West Nile virus, dengue virus, malaria, and reduce enjoyment of outdoor recreation and hinder outdoor work; and
WHEREAS, The San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District collaborates with other agencies to safeguard the health and comfort of people in San Mateo County through a science-based program of integrated vector management; and
WHEREAS, “National Mosquito Control Awareness Week” will increase public awareness, will encourage the public to take action in preventing mosquitotransmitted diseases, and will highlight the activities of the various mosquito and vector research and control agencies working to minimize mosquito-related health threats.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby recognize June 15-21, 2025, as National Mosquito Control Awareness Week, and thanks the San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Contral District for keeping our community safe. _____________________________________
